Scripps Ranch, Mira Mesa, San Diego and Rancho Penasquitos Information
Welcome > Local Info > Scripps Ranch Information ...

Located just south of Poway and east of Mira Mesa is the wonderful community of Scripps Ranch. One of San Diego’s most desirable neighborhoods, resident are proud of their tree lined streets, the “non” cookie cutter feel of “old” Scripps, their close proximity to open space and parks, the safe “neighborhood” feel of the ranch and the quite county feeling Scripps boasts. In fact, locals refer to Scripps Ranch as “Country Living” in the city. And it truly lives up to its name. Scripps is also known for its award-winning schools that are all a part of the San Diego Unified District.

With highways 15 and 56 just minutes away from most neighborhoods, Scripps is convenient to shopping, entertainment, parks and some of San Diego’s best beaches.
Del Mar Beach and Torry Pines State Park are a short 20 minute drive away.  If it is nightlife you carve, that too can be found with only a short car ride to downtown were you will find award winning restaurants, PetCo Park (go Padres),  fabulous entertainment and the famous Horton Plaza

However, as locals will tell you, some of the best jewels can be found literally right in your backyard.  Scripps Ranch is home to the wonderful
Miramar Lake Park.  Miramar is a beautiful park which features scenic picnic areas, boating and a 4.92 mile paved trail around the lake for biking, running or simply strolling and recharging.  A few select and beautiful homes crest the top park of the lake giving a lucky few, sunset water views.

Real Estate Tips
Buying Land and New Construction >New Homes

Buying a house that is under construction gives you the opportunity to customize your new home by adding special features to the basic home. When deciding on additional features, consider how they will affect the re-sale value of the home and whether these additions will over-improve your home.

Money spent to improve and modernize kitchens and bathrooms is almost always a good investment. Granite and corian counter tops, side-by-side refrigerators, tile flooring and whirlpool tubs are popular upgrades. If the builder's standard flooring for the living room, dining room or foyer is linoleum, changing to hardwood or tile will increase the resale value of the home. And even if you don't enjoy sitting around a roaring fireplace, the next owner may want one. If you plan to finish the basement later, you may want to "rough-in" the plumbing for a bath during the original construction. You should consider your own enjoyment--and what will increase the value of your home when you sell.
